How much longer can the world rely on fossil fuels as a main source of energy?
Recent studies have indicated that it takes 40 acres (98 tons) of plant life to provide 1 gallon of gasoline. According to these numbers, the world consumes the equivalent of 1 year of plant growth worldwide in a single day.
At this rate, experts estimate that fossil fuels reserves will be depleted within the next 30-40 years.
